The professors here really care. I was no special talent, but they made me feel as if I were. I remember one professor chasing me down a few days after my finals and telling me how much he enjoyed my essay. This was a professor who had always been hard on me, every day pushing me to be better. I also remember coming to another professor, almost in tears because I was certain I was going to fail his class. He looked me in the eye and told me that we (meaning the two of us) weren't going to let that happen. And we didn't. Can't say it was my best subject, but I made it through. It was grad school (UVA) that prepared me for my career, but it was Sewanee that gave me the foundation for a lifetime of focused learning, and a deep passion for a broad range disciplines.
Beautiful campus. Gorgeous old world architecture.
