An open-air museum, Shelburne Museum houses more than 150,000 works depicting historic New England life. The Impressionist paintings, folk art, quilts and textiles, furniture, 17th- to 20th-century artifacts, and American paintings are housed in 38 exhibition buildings arranged to mimic historic New England architecture. Twenty-five of these buildings are historic and were relocated here for the museum. Three separate tours are offered daily and included in the price of admission. Learn about Colonial Revival, the history and mechanics of 1906 steamboat, or American art on the tour of your choice. Because the depth and scope of the museum is so huge, your ticket is good for two days. Make Shelburne Museum a centerpiece of your Shelburne vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Shelburne vacation website .

Vale muito a pena. É um museu a céu aberto. Eles criaram uma cidade, trouxeram casas, ponte e um barco antigo. They created a city, brought houses, bridges and an old boat. There are also Lojinhas, with old items of the time, a dental office, an ophthalmological, a graphic (with a machine that works). Very impressive. Mandatory visit. There's a little restaurant inside, which serves lunch.
Lots to see. The Ticonderoga Steamboat was amazing to tour, including the video on how they got it there. Some many buildings and things to see - train, lighthouse, quilts, pewter, art. Tons of histor... more »
Our visit was in March before most of the buildings are open but it was still worth the time, especially the Webb gallery of American painters. Lots of interesting paintings well displayed and the info tags are really great. I learned a lot. And the gift shop is actually very cool with lots of great stuff. Looking forward to going back when all of the buildings are open
I am fortunate to live close to this excellent museum. I am able to visit several times a year and always bring my out of town guests here. There is so much to see it is impossible to see it all over a weekend. A truly eclectic museum of fine art and folk crafts and everything in-between. They have even expanded and now have special exhibits during the winter months as well as a wonderful gift shop.
