  • What an amazing place. We were virtually alone in this alien landscape when we visited last week. The black rock (from the tectonic triangle just offshore) was mesmerizing and felt almost magnetic...  more »

  • Beautiful beach, loved going there for exploring and pretty pictures. The sand is definitely super rocky and hot, would recommend wearing tennis shoes instead of sandals. And NO swimming. Not much good food nearby and the drive into town can be somewhat nerve-racking.
  • We love coming down to black sands beach. ..during our 3 week stay, we come down at different times to see all the changes. High tide...low tide. ..during the day and at night. The stars are amazing. We usually bring a bag worth is to pick up any plastic we find on the beach. It's a very clean, beautiful beach that everyone will enjoy. We age from 11 all the way up to 70. Wear closed toe shoes so you don't get rocks in your shoe and bring a light jacket. The waves are amassing to watch when they hit the rocks.
