Black Sands Beach, Shelter Cove

Beautiful beach! We spent a couple of hours here, watching the sea otters in both the small (freshwater?) pond and in the strong surf (one was enjoying a fish lunch and let us watch pretty close up). The surf is as dangerous as advertised and we only put toes in. We all enjoyed climbing the big rock, laying on the warm, smooth rocks, and walking way up and down the beach. Parking is very limited and you will have to walk down one way or another. But worth it.

One of the most beautiful and most accessible black sand beaches on the Lost Coast. There is limited parking but you can park up the street and it is not a far walk. Be carful! The waves can surprise you and take you out on a rough day.
