Trained guides take you on a tour of the largest Lava Ice Cave known, and describe and explain the geologic, volcanic and historic background of this recreational area.

You descend gradually on a smooth path and then stairs to a depth of 100 feet under the lava into a world of volcanic wonder and ice. The Cave is about 1700 feet long, 50 feet wide and 45 feet in height. Elevation is at about 4500 feet. It is well-lit with LED lighting so one may see all the points of interest and much more!

On the grounds we offer a gift shop, free rock/artifact museum, picnic area, our famous 30-foot-high, 10-ton statue of Chief Washakie; noted Chief of the Shoshone Tribe, and our very large green dinosaur; Dino, which has become a local icon. We also have lots of various rocks for sale outside, as well as other statues to see and take pictures with.

  • The cave was beautiful! Our tour guide was lovely, I can not remember her name but it was just my boyfriend and I touring with her. I know she was young and her knowledge was remarkable. It felt like we were with my little sister ◡̈ highly Recommend this tour!
  • Beautiful cave. Beautiful day. Amazing guide, If you take a visit to this neat little place make sure to get Miah as your tour guide. She was just in high school but has a amazing knowledge of this place! She was very friendly. She sang for everyone when we were down in the cave and demonstrated the acoustics with her amazing voice. She told us in great detail about the discovery of the cave and it’s history. When we were coming back up there was an elderly woman who was having difficulty ascending the stairs. At other places I’ve toured they just rush on through. She went down the stairs to the back of the tour let the lady lean on her arm all the way up and then proceeded to continue the tour. The path was very clean and the cave was well lit. The lava tube itself was fascinating. Once we got out of the cave the rush of hot air was very surprising. When we got back to the little store our guide thanked every person for coming and was very kind. Every person that walked through the door had amazing comments about her. I knew they chose a great guide the moment we got their and the previous tour could do nothing but state how intelligent and kind this young girl is. Overall amazing service. Very good staff and Great store!
