Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center, Sioux City

I visited this Steamboat expecting it was a welcome to Iowa establishment but it's lot more. You can walk around inside the boat and see exhibits and learn the history of the area. I noticed they were a couple of families that brought children and their children were excited about what they had to learn. It's also a chance to see the inside of an authentic Steamboat that plowed the Waters of the Missouri. They have the largest collection of tourist information I have seen in Iowa. Very close by you'll find the Betty Strong Encounter that has sculptures on the grounds and a statue to Lewis and Clarks expedition. Between the encounter and the steamboat is a picnic area. This could be a great outing for a family.

We really enjoyed our visit and was immediately greeted by Dom who was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his job managing the Welcome Center. Many displays and exhibits are presented throughout both floors. The children were even enjoying the museum. Sgt Floyd whom the riverboat is named after is honored by numerous displays and exhibits.
