Elverhoj Museum of History & Art, Solvang

Very sweet little museum of Solvang. It's full of Danish history and beautiful artwork as well as amazing architecture. It's a bit off the main street but worth a stop. I wouldn't say this is a place for small kids. Not a lot of space to move and lots of breakables.

A must visit! From the buildings architecture to the fantastic staff, the passion for Solvang and Danish heritage is so obvious. They have a very knowledgeable staff, it's a great way to learn about Solvang and Denmark, and a great free way to enjoy your time in this freaking adorable town (but dont forget to donate at least $5!). The staff surprisingly answered all the weird questions that came to my ADD addled brain, taught me some Danish, offered personal insight as well as facts, and were just so excited to discuss and share with us. The museum/ house is so cute and filled with tons of antiques that tell great stories and teach so much. Not only is the house/ museum adorable and informative, but their shop is filled with authentic and unique items. No scented candles, soaps, or magnets here. Honestly, we ended up getting most of our souvenirs from here. There's a great, unique book selection and most of the items are from Denmark and other countries. I had fun searching for the Nisser with the best personality and ended up getting one that looked like Gandolf the Gray (Nisser= holiday gnomes that bring presents to those who treat animals well- I learned that here and now I'm even more obsessed). Overall great experience and wish I had more time there. Shout-out to the ladies working Sunday 12/11/22 evening, they did a fantastic job!
