Mt. Tallac Trail rings Lake Tahoe, extending for 15.4 km (9.6 mi). This moderately difficult trail offers unparalleled vistas of the lake and dark green pine forests surrounding it. Walk along the mountain ridges and climb the summit standing at 2,967 m (9,735 ft) above sea level for the best views. The trail is accessible from May until October with a wilderness permit.
