Tahoe Trout Farm Reviews
A great plàce for the grandxhildern's first fishing experience. The owner was good with the kids telling them to call out "get the net" when there was a fish on. My gràndaughter yelled it at every... more »
This place is great, after our first visit today I am sure this will be a regular stop when we are in the area for years to come. We have a pre-schooler and thought it would be fun to let him try... more »
It's a great way to spend an afternoon. The fishing poles are super easy to use, no skill required at all. The trout are very easy to catch. They really have nowhere to go. They will teach you to clean the fish or clean the fish for you. My boys enjoyed learning to clean the fish. They will pack your fish on ice. The owner recommends a restaurant where you can take your fish to be cooked for lunch. Not a lot of shade so bring a hat. Everything's free except for the price of the fish. We caught 3 medium size trout and we paid about 60 bucks I think out the door. It's great activity for kids or people that have never done fishing. My kids loved it.
Fun for adults too! My husband and I took a short trip to Tahoe and didn't want to spend the whole day on a charter. This was an entertaining solution! On our first day, we dropped by to make sure they were open (May 1st). We spent over an hour chatting with the owner, Jim, learning about the farm and swapping fishing stories. We went back to fish up our dinner the next day. We caught two gorgeous 16 inch trout in less than 20 minutes! You pay for what you catch, so be careful you don't get in over your head. If you decide not to eat the fish, they have several donation options! They have a whopper pond with some massive beauties too! Jim provides information on local attractions and places where you can take your catch to be cooked. All of the staff are super friendly and they let you get the whole hands-on experience. This was a wonderful experience, and we will be back on our next trip to Tahoe!
