  • This is our favorite place to walk in the South Tahoe area. We visit at least once every time we are nearby. There is a lovely loop trail that included the under-stream viewing chamber, birch woods (with bear markings), trees with active beaver chew marks, a meadow, and of course the creek. There is also an outdoor theater, and a small visitor's center. From the parking lot, you can access the trailhead that leads to Pope's Beach, which is a popular, public, sandy beach.
  • Nice trail to walk with the kiddos or elderly. Not too strenous and mainly flat. The visitor center was closed but park rangers were present & notified visitors of bears on the path. Path closed for a bit while they crossed and moved elsewhere. We enjoyed the trail afterward, definitely good for kids. Beautiful views & fall colors. We enjoyed it.
