  • Here's the history of Southport, displayed on the wall is a timeline from inception. Special exhibits dedicated to the film industry, Robert Ruark, veterans, businesses, the fort itself and it's diverse history. The ladies there were very helpful with answers to questions about Southport and their own journeys that brought them here.
  • This is an important museum that documents the history of Southport. There are numerous historical photos dating back to the 1800's as well as interesting artifacts. They also have a room dedicated to the film projects that have taken place over the years. This is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Admission is free but it's important that we support the museum with a purchase or donation in the gift shop. We purchased a neat cookbook chock full of southern recipes from the area complete with photos.
