The NC Maritime Museum is a showcase of all things sea! Classic old work boats and relics from life on the water are on display throughout the museum.

Very interesting historical displays from earliest times to the present. I found the display on the old Revolutionary War Loyalists to be especially interesting.

Need a place to entertain the kids for an hour? This is it, especially if they don't want to be dragged around craft shops in Southport. A delightful museum that gives adults an introduction to colonial and maritime history of our area, including a great diorama of native life. Volunteers give great information and the exhibits also include hurricane history and maritime rescues. Their gift shop has a great selection of kids books and toys and even books for adults. If you are going to Southport for the day, do the kids a favor and stop here, then take the ferry back. Better yet, drive up 133 and stop at Ft. Anderson and Brunswick Towne for a great outdoor walk along the river, when the weather is cooler!

Beautiful views and nice little museum. My grandson loved doing the scavenger hunt in the museum for a "treasure".
