Create an itinerary including Fall Creek Falls
To see the highest free-falling waterfall east of the Mississippi, hike the trails of Fall Creek Falls. Nestled in an area renowned for its geological formations and scenic overlooks, this state park spans over 8,000 hectares (20,000 acres). The park's namesake waterfall plunges from a height of 78 m (256 ft), creating a large pool of crystalline water surrounded by steep rocks covered in dense vegetation. The park also contains several caves, including one with the second-largest cavern chamber in the U.S. Open year-round, the site houses a restaurant, inn, 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, and three large campgrounds. Print or download a map of the park's trails and facilities before you visit. • This park was BEAUTIFUL and well worth the multi-state drive it took to visit. From multiple, breathtaking waterfalls and rock formations to swinging suspension bridges and delicious takeout from their lakeside restaurant, this state park is now among our favorites in the Eastern United States. There were handicap accessible views of both main waterfalls, conveniently located (and clean) bathrooms, well posted and maintained hiking trails, and various picnic areas. There were several other available activities in the area as well, but we didn't have the time to experience those. (We chose to stay about an hour away in a historic cabin at Cumberland Mountain state park to save money). We can't wait to return and see the falls here again!
  • Absolutely beautiful park! Have traveled here twice, May 21 and May 22. There's a handful of trails of varying length and difficulty- all are worth it!! Lots of waterfalls and rock formations throughout the park. Lots of rocky stairs down to the base of the main waterfall- definitely a workout and should not be attempted in poor health but so worth it! One of my favorite parks of all time.
