Must see · Waterfall · Nature / Park
To see the highest free-falling waterfall east of the Mississippi, hike the trails of Fall Creek Falls. Nestled in an area renowned for its geological formations and scenic overlooks, this state park spans over 8,000 hectares (20,000 acres). The park's namesake waterfall plunges from a height of 78 m (256 ft), creating a large pool of crystalline water surrounded by steep rocks covered in dense vegetation. The park also contains several caves, including one with the second-largest cavern chamber in the U.S. Open year-round, the site houses a restaurant, inn, 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, and three large campgrounds. Print or download a map of the park's trails and facilities before you visit.
