Built in the 1880s in the Romanesque Revival style, Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes features a red brick exterior, its facade framed by two tall towers. The interior, renovated in the 1970s, includes a marble altar and two organs. Pay special attention to the stained glass windows, brought there from Bavaria. This is a magnificent cathedral. Built in 1903 it is a perfect example of the beauty and majesty of cathedrals built at the beginning of the 20th century. Inside is tastefully ornate with beautiful stained glass windows, detailed marble stations of the cross and a towering pulpit. The alter is imposing and flanked by two huge circular stained glass windows and five stained glass windows behind. The rounded ceiling resembles waffling. There is a majestic pipe organ upstairs in the choir loft. The grounds are simple and there is a grotto nestled on the right side. Worth a few minutes for any cathedral junkie.
We were visiting Spokane when friends told us we could not leave without seeing the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes. The church is located in the downtown area and is a really imposing structure. The interior was remodeled and is lovely. We were amazed at the peaceful feeling that pervaded the whole space. Lovely cathedral right downtown. Go there, relax and feel peace. The dual towers at the entrance create a grand feel.
