  • Great quick hike that you do not need a shuttle pass for. Most of it easy walking but when you get close to waterfall there is some climbing over rocks involved.  more »
  • We went with our 6 & 10 YO boys and they really enjoyed it. My husband found all the directions and led the path, so defer to other reviews for that. It was def a little hard to find, some rock...  more »
  • Most of Pine Creek gorge requires a permit from the park and technical canyoneering gear and experience. However, you can hike from Zion-Mt Carmel Highway to Pine Creek Falls without a permit or any technical gear. The trailhead is along UT-9/Zion-Mt Carmel Highway. From the visitor center in Springdale, continue on UT-9 through the park and past Canyon Junction. At the first switchback, pull-off on the side of the road. There's no official trail, but it's easy to follow heading upstream along Pine Creek. That being said, there is no trail maintenance performed. We had to rock hop across the creek a couple times. The water level was very low and so was easy; in high water, it might be more difficult. As we got close to the waterfall, we had to navigate around a deep pool. It was somewhat difficult, but we managed to scramble up a rock face on river-left and get around the pool to the base of the waterfall. Even in low water, I thought it was a really nice waterfall. Three smaller flows combine and then tumble down a short drop and slide. Total height is about 30 feet. We hung out at the base for a while, taking photos and enjoying having the place to ourselves when everything else was really crowded.
