Unfortunately by the time we got to this museum (visiting from out of town) it was half an hour before it closed. But we still spent a pleasant and fairly peaceful 30 minutes surveying the museum and its exhibits, both the permanent collection and a neat exhibit on watercolors. There is a really nice area for kids that allows them to play and explore with art-related materials. It's not a large museum but it appears to be well cared for.
I visited this local museum with a friend from college this Sunday afternoon. (Yes, I am a native resident; I was born here in Springfield and I have lived close enough to there to matter all my life.) It was a peaceful and quiet (in fact, almost silent) experience for us. We even ended up seeing some unique art. What a nice place to visit for an alternative experience local to Springfield, Missouri.
