Church · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Explore and admire one of Florida's oldest and grandest sites of worship, Memorial Presbyterian Church. The imposing building was inspired by St. Mark's Basilica in Venice and features a number of expensive materials and intricate decoration. Henry Morrison Flagler, a famous American industrialist, commissioned the church in 1889 as a memorial to his daughter and infant granddaughter, who both died due to complications during childbirth. Approach one of the church docents to learn not only about the building, but also Flagler's fascinating life. The church's mausoleum serves as the final resting place for Flagler, his first wife, their daughter, and her baby. • The children's choir was especially nice. Good job from the director. Preacher gave a very meaningful sermon.  more »

  • Very very beautiful place. Top 5 church in our great country. I loved the one in New Orleans, but just a special
  • I have been going to this church since I was born. Every single person there loves you from the inside out. They have beautiful hymnals, and sometimes the Children's Choir does performances. If you want to go to an amazing church this is the place to go. It is currently undergoing lots of renovations on the outside of the church, due to it's history, but the beauty still shines through.❤️ There is also a garden that winds round the church, giving you a scenic walk. If you are planning a visit to St. Augustine, try to wait until the renovations are over. It will definitely be worth it.
