For a glimpse at the creative process of a master of Surrealism, visit The Dali Museum. Here you'll see the largest collection of Salvador Dali's works outside Europe. The museum contains works from the private collection of Albert and Eleanor Morse, Dali's patrons and friends for over four decades. The collection includes 96 oil paintings, 100 watercolors and drawings, and over 1,000 graphics, photographs, and sculptures. Pay special attention to the seven works considered Dali's masterpieces, including a metaphorical representation of Christopher Columbus' discovery of America, which took nearly four years to complete. For a taste of traditional Spanish fare, stop by the on-site restaurant, named after Dali's wife Gala. • Came here on my last day in Florida while on business. I was told about the museum and made the trip down to check it out. It was worth the drive. Seeing so much of Dalis work in one place and the explanations of his work were incredible. There was also a part of the exhibit that brought the paintings to life through animation. Absolutely breathtaking pieces. There were also works by Goya which were fascinating. I was super excited to see his work because it's just so neat. It's different and detailed. I ran through the exhibits in about an hour since I had a flight to catch a couple of hours later, but it was more than enough time to enjoy the pieces. I then went down to the gift shop where there was one more unique piece by Dali, it was an older vehicle covered with boating decor, there was a coin deposit near it so I deposited a dollar and the sound of a storm came on and water started pouring on the windows of the vehicle and when the lightning would "strike", there was a mannequin dressed like a woman in the back seat. It was really cool. Highly recommend taking a trip to see it all. The view from the museum is also gorgeous.
  • One of the best museums, I have been to in a long time. The architecture of the building was fabulous. Dali has hidden meaning in all of his paintings and its left up to you to interpret meaning in his works. The gift shop cafeteria and everything have an eclectic vibe. The garden maze out in the courtyard is fun. just know that it dead ends, and you have to double back at the end of it . I would recommend this museum to anyone that has an interest in the arts. The admission was 25 dollars for adults, but they do have coupons, you can find in Hotel travel ephemere, that makes it much cheaper.
