Bigleaf Slopes Park is named after the Magnolia macrophylla, the bigleaf magnolia, a deciduous magnolia native to the southeastern United States and eastern Mexico. This species boasts the largest simple leaf and single flower of any native plant in North America. The Park will open in Spring 2016. This is the "go to spot" for all information about the Bigleaf Slopes Park, owned and managed by Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department. The project is a collaborative project between Iredell County and the Tarheel Trailblazers. The park is approximately 104 acres and will have approximately 4-6 miles of mountain bike and hiking trails once completed. The park will be open to the public, boasting trails for novice to seasoned riders and hikers. For more information, contact Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department at 704-878-3103.

  • Today we visited this park for a walk. The 2 and a half mile trail, which meanders back and forth through the forest, is well marked for walkers and bikers. There are identification labels on several....  more »

  • Loved this park! Very well taken care of and with signs talking about the trees and features. The trail weaves through beautiful woods that provide a shaded hike that was cool even on a hot summer day. There's parts through pines, clearings and other trees, and it's a little hilly too.
  • Easy walking trails. Well maintained. 3.1 mile loop and a 1 mile loop to make a total of 4 miles. Mountain bikes and walkers share the same trails.
