  • Beautiful place to visit.. If in Steamboat area in warmer months, this is a must see (if nature appeals to you). One of the more beautiful falls I've visited in Colorado. The short walk to the overlook is paved and easily accessible, to go to the base of the falls it requires a little longer hike on dirt trails.. The entire hike though isn't more than 1mile.
  • This is a beautiful hike. It is an easy hike to the lower fall overlook. There is a beautiful picnic area, and the hike to the bridge is stunning. It is very high use, and parking in the afternoon can be a challenge. There is a $5 fee to gain access to the falls but well worth it.
  • This is one of the prettiest places I've ever been. The weekends can be crowded, so if possible plan to go during the week or outside the busy times. The best time would be morning or evening. The hike up to Long Lake is a good 6 miles but is shaded and beautiful. The hike isn't easy, but plenty of places to stop and rest. Just seeing the falls is well worth the trip.
  • Hope to make it 5 stars next visit. But loses a star on the smell. Happened to go on the day that the restrooms were cleaned out. Otherwise beautiful. Has 2 ways to see the falls, one easier trail up to more of an overlook, and one more rugged trail that takes you to the bottom of the falls. At the bottom there is another trail that goes to a lake that I hope to see next time.
  • I visited in May 2018 (aka Mud Season). There is plenty of parking, and there is an honor box for payment (so bring cash/check and a pen!). I walked down to the falls and up to the second bridge (about 3.5 miles round trip). There is an overlook trail that I did not hike. The hike to the bottom of the falls is super easy. It's slightly steep, but it is short, and the trail is wide and very well maintained (almost road-like). I believe it was about 1/4 mile each way. The hike to the next bridge is about 1.5 miles up a rugged trail. It was mud season, so there was a lot of mud and even snow as we gained elevation. Some parts were slippery. See photo of the snow-covered trail. Since spring hadn't quite arrived up in the mountains, it wasn't the best hike. I was slightly disappointed at the views at the second bridge. I'm sure it's beautiful in the summer/fall though! The $5 fee is worth the views of the waterfall. I wish I had done the overlook trail.
