  • I love the living history aspect! You could see gardening, cow milking, sheep shearing, egg gathering, wood stove cooking and lots more. If you are lucky, you can participate in some activities.
  • It was pretty darn hot in mid June during our visit, but this farm is easy to access, either by driving directly there, or by taking a pleasant, moderate walk from the LBJ State Park visitors center via a shady woodland path. The park rangers / farm workers keep this place up year-round, since it is home to goats, chickens, several cows, and one nap-tastic pig. It was fun to see the root cellar, corn husk dolls, milk separator, blacksmith, and the old home (with furnishings in place). Do talk to the staff when you visit--we learned all about pickling processes from the German immigrants, and about the changing state of the garden.
