Stowe Pinnacle Reviews

Moderate hike with beautiful vistas. Worth making it to the top where you’ll be greeted by two friendly Golden Retrievers if the are not sleeping. Stable shoes and walking sticks are recommended. No r... more »
One of my favorite places to hike. I would visit daily if it wasn't a 45 minute drive to get here on a good day. the view is amazing and one time there were two huge amazing dogs at the top. a fun and easy hike
Trail itself: Amazing. Less than 4 miles and only 1,600 feet elevation gain (compare to Mansfield via the Long Trail which is 5 miles and 2,800 feet, or Mt. Philo which is only 2 miles and 500 feet). Some rock scrambling toward the top, but less than the bigger mountains. It's a nice mid-sized hike with a full-sized vista at the summit! Canine considerations: It is a popular trail, and the summit area is smaller than Mansfield and Camel's Hump, so it gets crowded. Those who are afraid of dogs or hike with a reactive dog may have even more difficulty here than on other high-traffic trails because of the two golden retrievers who are the mountain's unofficial mascots. While they are, by all accounts, Good Boys (and most hikers consider them a positive feature), take caution that they will be at the summit, off-leash and unattended, most days. Even if you time your hike to avoid crowds, they will probably be there.
