  • Excellent visit with a great mission. I love coming here and learning about the new and the staff is truly heroic.  more »
  • I've heard of long lines here, but we went in the off season and it wasn't bad at all. We waited maybe 15 minutes to get in, and then were moved from station to station through the facility...  more »

  • Such a beautiful facility. Sea turtles are right up there for my favorite animals of all time, and it was such a cool experience to see some up close. It's also neat that the majority of people working there are actually volunteers, so they are really passionate about coastal/ocean biodiversity, preservation, and the sea turtles' well-being. This also makes it an enjoyable experience chatting with them and learning how we can help the environment in small ways every day. They also had a lot of student interns there that were equally ecstatic to talk about sea turtles and the wonderful work the facility is doing to save them. Since it is a small facility, you can easily visit it in about an hour or less, which can be much easier than say, visiting the Fort Fisher Aquarium if you're trying to see and do a lot during a beach trip.
  • Went here for our love of sea turtles. Was hoping that we could catch setting them hatch but I think we were too early, unfortunately. This site had a really cool presentation, got to see some of the turtles they were helping out in sick bay. All of us were adults going, but this was a great place for kids to go and learn about them, and what they could do to help their environment (reduce plastics!!) Even got to "adopt"/sponsor a turtle (his name was Canal). So glad we visited!
