Hookers Fly Shop, Sylva

I highly recommend this shop to take you fly fishing. I planned a 2 week vacation with my son. Neither of us have ever been fly fishing. Being from Florida, we were no strangers to fishing. Sadly, my son, 16 years old, never caught any fish when we went fishing. Too impatient. I told our guide, Nolan, this information. He quickly responded with, 'He will catch fish today!' This made me happy to hear. I did a lot of research on fly fishing guides before heading to North Carolina and I found Hookers to be the cheapest. With so many other activities planned, the price was right for us. I don't think you have to spend a fortune to have a fun day of fishing. I made the reservations while driving from Florida. I think it was a man named Jason that I spoke with. Quick, easy, informative and answered any questions I had. He asked me where we were staying so that they could pick a fishing spot accordingly. Fast forward to the day of fly fishing. We met Nolan at a gas station and then drove to the creek. Nolan may be young, like a previous review mentioned but, he is very knowledgeable about fly fishing. I learned a lot from the 4 hours we spent with him. My son caught fish! Mason caught the biggest fish of the day, 13 inches! Also, when we caught fish, Nolan was just as excited as we were about the catch. Fishing with Nolan was like fishing with a friend. He never got mad when the line got stuck and he had to walk into the deep rushing water to free the hook. He changed the fly a few times to see what the trout would bite. Bottom line, if you have never been fly fishing in your life, this company is the one to go with.

I've been using these guys for over 5 years in Jackson County area and it's always been a great and fun experience! I consistently get put on fish when I go with these guys, and they're nothing but a good time.
