Both a theme park and a zoo, Busch Gardens offers a mixture of roller-coaster rides, live shows, dining, shopping, and interactive activities with animals. Opened in 1959 with an African theme, the park now shelters nearly 12,000 animals, spread over 130 hectares (330 acres). You can choose to be an animal keeper for a day or take guided, behind-the-scenes tours of the animal care center, where you can learn how the park's veterinary staff cares for the zoo's residents. The theme park also offers ziplines and water rides. Take advantage of considerable savings by booking your tickets online, and choose from a range of dining and park experiences. Cheetah, Sheikra and Montu, new Cobra (the first roller coaster that I see that it has built-in elevator) are spectacular and worth. We took our 16 month old on a Saturday in August and he loved it! There is a nice kids area with rides that are themed Sesame Street. He even got to meet Elmo! It was really hot that day but they have a few splash pads, one for little ones and another for older kids. He enjoyed seeing all of the different animals as well. We got season passes and will be going regularly for the different events they have throughout the year.
Great amusement park, but we liked the Busch Gardens in VA. much better. We were able to ride most of the rides, however many were closed as well which was a little disappointing. The Falcon's Fury ride was worth the whole visit though. Such a unique and scary ride! All the animals were awesome! Wish we had more time to really take everything in. The hours the day we went was 10-6 and that just isn't long enough to do everything. Dining plan is a great deal, and food was great.
