Explore a variety of ecosystems at Lettuce Lake Regional Park. See wetlands with alligators, oak forests, cypress trees, and floodplains as you walk on the more than 1,067 m (3,500 ft) boardwalk. From the boardwalk, make your way to the observation tower for a view of the entire park. From here, you can spot the open field with picnic tables, barbecue pits, and plenty of space to play sports. You also can view the natural surroundings from the water in a rented kayak or canoe. Wear comfortable shoes and light clothing to beat the heat, and remember to bring drinking water. There's a free, guided nature tour from the visitor center on weekend mornings. Visited alone in early February. Entrance is free if you walk in! Great place; lovely hike along the water and wetland on a boardwalk. Saw two alligators, several bird species, two turtles, and LOTS of squirrels. Great bald cypress habitat! Best destination of my four day trip here in Tampa (also went to Zoo Tampa and Museum of Science and Industry)

I want to publicly commend the manager and workers at this park. We love coming here and always have a good time looking for birds and alligators and other animals. But the reason for my post is the fantastic workers! Today my 3-year old granddaughter (accidentally) knocked my prescription eyeglasses off my face directly into the water below the tower. It would have been impossible for us to retrieve them (not to mention the large alligator that just happened to be lurking right in the same few feet of water!), but the manager Todd sent Nick over with a long handled net, and Nick was actually able to bring them up after several passes through the water! We really appreciate the kindness and gracious helpful attitude of everyone who works at this particular location!!
