Lyndhurst, one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions, was designed in 1838 by Alexander Jackson Davis. Its architectural brilliance is complemented by the park-like landscape of the estate and a comprehensive collection of original decorative arts. Its noteworthy occupants included: former New York City mayor William Paulding, merchant George Merritt, and railroad tycoon Jay Gould.
The estate was shaped during more than a century by these three families. Now, Lyndhurst invites you to explore the evolution of American identity and taste through our guided tours of 19 elaborately decorated rooms in the mansion interior.
Lyndhurst also offers special tours that explore unique spaces like the recently restored bowling alley, majestic landscape, kitchens, laundry room, and observation tower overlooking widest part of the lower Hudson River to Manhattan.
Lyndhurst offers guided tours every hour, on the hour, Thursdays - Mondays, 10 am - 4 pm. Hours vary seasonally and during holidays, so visit our website for most up-to-date tour times and hours: www.lyndhurst.org.

Loved going there, the setup was amazing and very beautiful. The actors were very talented and into their craft. The mansion was beautiful, especially at night with all the lighting. It's a little out of the way and a bit of a walk from the parking lot, but it is worth it. Hope to go again the next time I go to Spooky Hallow. The inside is also well decorated and very fancy.
Went to the seasonal crafts fair. Juried artisans sell everything from health foods, to clothing to glass to jewelry and more. Well organized, free parking, some food vendors on site. Nice way to spend a few hours and browse unique items. Puppet show, balloon man on stilts and face painting for kids.
