Trip Planner: USA / Florida / Florida Keys / Key Largo / Tavernier / Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center
Meet feathered friends who have been injured and are now in the process of rehabilitation at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center. The center aims to release birds back into the wild, but also provides shelter for the birds that cannot be released. To educate the public on peaceful coexistence with wild birds, the center provides information on its work. The self-guided tour leads you along the boardwalk--where each aviary is marked--and gives general information on the particular species, as well as more specific details about the rescued bird. You are welcome to get close to the birds but remember that they are wild; some may not want to interact with people. Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center Reviews
beautiful place, heartbreaking to see injured animals but inspiring to see how they are being helped. more »
Free (donations requested) and a really great facility. Plan to spend about an hour unless you want to do serious photography. The wild birds are as fun as the rehab/facility birds, and the immediate ... more »
My boyfriend and I were on vacation in the Keys and happened to come across this location - we were both so happy that we did! Their mission is to promote harmonious living among wildlife, humans and our natural environment. This establishment rehabilitates various avian species that are hurt or sick and provides educational resources to learn about the importance of our winged friends. A truly wonderful place - there should be more of its kind.
This review is the Laura Quinn wild bird center. Small, unstaffed free enclosures of rehabilitating birds. Well done exhibits. Give a donation and help these guys out. This place is associated with but not the same location as the Florida Keys Wild bird Hospital down the street. In order to see the birds you must go to the Laura Quinn center location. You'll spend less than an hour here .
