The ropes are already hanging so all you need to do is tie-in and climb (after a short video and orientation for first-timers). Our large, 2-level bouldering area, for ages 14+, is great for warm-ups and warm-downs or entire work-outs. We have 56 top-ropes with everything from easy cruisin' routes to overhanging arm blasters. Note: we do NOT have autobelays! We also have a dedicated lead area for experienced climbers (bring your own lead rope and belay device; an additional certification test is required). Faces, cracks, arêtes, chimneys and more! The Phoenix Rock Gym offers you a place to have fun while improving your climbing skills and increasing your strength. The routes are changed frequently so you'll always find something new to test your skills.
The Phoenix Rock Gym is the place to climb. We've got the environment, equipment, and the expertise to get you climbing. So, no matter what your age or experience, come on over and enjoy the thrill, excitement, and challenge of climbing! You have to see it to believe it.
Phoenix Rock Gym Reviews
This is my go to place for climbing. They have more top rope routes than most gym, and don't use auto belays. This means when you get tired you can rest in your harness, which I personally really appr... more »
Liked the gym...lots of routes, lots of diversity in types of walls, nice staff. My harness legs wouldn't stay tight, however, and everyone from our group who rented shoes was very uncomfortable. They... more »
super fun. large open space with lots of climbing options. the staff was friendly and helpful. i would recommend perhaps a little more patience when a newbie (like myself) is belaying and needs better instruction. the girl i had was very fast in talking and explaining and seems annoyed when i didn't get it right away. but once you do it's easy and very fun. great spot for beginners, even more advanced. super fun for the whole family.
This gym can get busy especially on weekday nights. There's a lot to do here, and I wish I had time to come back as I truly had a great experience. When you enter, you see they have the self-belay climbing walls and some courageous people making their way up. (I wish they also had pulley belays too for those of use who like to climb solo) They even have a rope in that area that you can climb to train your upper body strength. You can only go up halfway without a harness. Then, you have the bouldering area. It's a bit small so sometimes you just have to sit down on the floor and wait your turn... Everyone on that bouldering wall is so good, but don't be intimidated. The seasoned folks there are more than glad to offer you some tips. I also did peek at the bouldering area upstairs but that turned out to be too advanced. The walls are all slanted, making it very hard to climb up. Wonderful place to be at and get a workout in. The monthly passes are a good deal to.
