  • This petrified forest is a sight to behold! It's a short drive out on a fairly well maintained dirt road...then about a 1 1/2 mile hike, but so worth it! Remnants of a sequoia (dawn redwood) and...  more »
  • The petrified forest is very cool. Saw a lone buffalo and a few wild horses on our trip. Nice long hike. Only steep at the beginning and end of the hike.
  • Awesome place to take a day hike. Absolutely beautiful. I didn't get to see the Buffalo but seen many signs they had been there. I would suggest to bring a walking stick if you go on the 5 mile hike through the pasture since snakes can be bad. You can also take the 1/2 mile hike to see lots of petrified wood. Great place to stop with the kids.
