At Fort Ticonderoga, discover the history of the Seven Years War and the American Revolution. Built between 1855 and 1857, the fort's construction on Lake Champlain was a strategic coup by the French against British forces during the American Revolution. Housed in the old soldiers' barracks, the museum exhibits weapons used in battles during this era and provides information about health and injury on the battlefield. You'll also learn about food within the fort in the 1700s. You can witness reconstructions of battles here, complete with costumes and cannon-fire. Also visit the fort's extensive formal gardens, which were created in 1921 and are filled with colorful old-fashioned and modern flowers set against a backdrop of red brick walls. Fort Ticonderoga is a wonderful place to visit. The fort itself is very impressive. The museum is also very interesting. We had a great conversation with a tailor. He was hand sewing uniforms and had a wealth of information we found fascinating. We had questions and he had answers! Very impressed all around. Great views, great history, and fantastic staff!

Buy one day get the second day free plus a token to check out Mount Defiant! Excellent value for the price! Tons of history, excellent exhibits where you can watch the woodworkers make items in the manner they would for the period - the items that the crafters create, whether it be the seamstresses, the cobblers, the weavers or the others are all used for the Fort and the people. Lots of demonstrations, two locations to visit - the Kings Garden which is absolutely beautiful and has the Carillon Boat ride (an extra fee) and the Fort itself. Definitely a step back in time and the perfect way to show kids living history!
