Create an itinerary including Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park
Visit Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park for a glimpse into the history of the Old West in this historic silver mining town. The two-story brick structure that looks like a Roman cross was once Cochise County's jail, and included courtrooms and offices for the sheriff, treasurer, and board of supervisors. Built in 1882, it now houses exhibits that describe life for the miners, cattlemen, and pioneers who built Tombstone. Exhibits include a tax license for the operation of a brothel, a replica of the original gallows that stood in the courthouse courtyard, and many examples of firearms owned and used by the pioneers during the mining boom. The site offers numerous shaded picnic areas. • This state park inside the old county courthouse does an excellent job of explaining the history of the area. I highly recommend coming here.

  • Well-presented history and culture of Tombstone and Cochise County from the silver rush into the 20th century. Pairs well with other Tombstone attractions. Low cost.

  • What an awesome historical adventure! Endless amounts of information and cool artifacts on display. The ranger AND other clerk we interacted with were kind and patient. Loved our visit and would return again!
  • You can spend as much time as you want in here. There is a lot of written historical information to read with photos. It will take you back in time and give you the feel of how life was during these times. If you are into learning more about Tombstone's history I recommend stopping here first before you walk around the town. You will have a better insight and appreciation of the places you see. It is worth your time especially if you are into history.
