What a fabulous display. Folks were friendly and informative. Only issue was the temperature in the museum, very hot. Not sure if a-c was having issue. Highly recommend if you're in town. Give yourself at least 2 hours.

The Evel Knievel Museum Topeka, Kansas: When growing up Evel Knievel was my hero, an unstoppable Superman that never gave up and never backed down from a challenge. Every time he had an event on TV I was glued to it, wondering if he would make it or crash in some spectacular fashion. What I didn't know about this amazing man was how wonderfully clever a self promoter he was! Going through the museum you travel through his life all the way from his troubled and wild childhood to his sad and unfortunate death at a much to young age for a superhero. He passed away in 2007 at the age of 69. Evel Knievel is in the Guinness Book of World Records for breaking the most bones....., 433!!! Also on display was "Big Red", the truck that was used to move all his equipment and ramps. It was found rotting away in Florida for 30 years and brought back to it's former glory after an 18 month and $300,000 dollar restoration. This was a custom made, one of a kind truck built by Mack Trucks. The two story display is the largest collection of Evel Knievel memorabilia in the world. It's housed in a Harley Davidson store that also has a nice display of bikes through the ages.
