Wow what a little gem! We blew it and didn’t make reservations at Balmorhea Springs down the street but discovered Calera Chapel 💒 on the map and decided to check it out. It looks like it’s straight out of a movie set! Small chapel open to the public, you can light a candle and pray and read the plaque about its history. This is has got to be the most photogenic little chapel I’ve ever visited!

Awesome little historic chapel just west of Balmorhea in the middle of nowhere. The solitude was mesmerizing and a perfect place for getting alone with God without the distractions of the world. My group of 8 who were just passing through decided to stop on a Sunday morning and had a short devotional there and sang the hymn, "Holy, Holy, Holy". It's located just west of the intersection of FM 3078 (US Hwy 290) and State Hwy 17 near Toyahvale, Texas, about 7 miles west of Balmorhea.
