  • Who knew! Right here in your own backyard is a real honest to goodness Monastery with Monks! They’ll even sing for you at Vesper time.

  • Beautiful location, building, and grounds. Very peaceful. Honey, fudge, fruit cake in gift shop, all made there. Many great items in gift shop. Take the time to watch the full movie in the room on the left as you enter gift shop building. It shows a day in the life of a monk. We'll worth the time. Seemed like 20-30 minutes. It's on continual repeat so you can start and stop on your schedule. Plenty of free parking. Some great hikes across the road. Inquire at gift shop. You can sign up for a personal retreat here if you're interested.
  • The moment you pull in the Abbey is just absolutely gorgeous. The welcome center shows a great movie about Abbey. There is a gift shop the sells many different kinds of sweet treats the monks prepare. There is a great selection of Thomas Merton books as well as other great authors. Listening to the monks pray was truly emotional and special. I suggest going to the balcony for a better view. The trail to the statues has two entrances. One through the woods and one that is flat. I suggest the wooded as it was very beautiful and pretty easy. Overall a very nice, peaceful afternoon.
