#2 of 34 in Outdoors in Traverse City
The Nauti-Cat was built in 1988 by custom fabricator William Hartzog in Houston, Texas. At 47' long, 29' wide, and almost 50 tons displacement the Nauti-Cat handled most of the Gulf's weather with its Simpson & Wild design. With a maximum capacity of 46 there's more than enough room to walk around and go down below decks as well. You can see the Nauti-Cat from a distance, having almost 1,000 square feet of sail propelling the ship. Being a catamaran, the ship slices through the water with great stability and with a soothing motion. In 1998, the Nauti-Cat was re-outfitted with all new gear including a 63' mast, boom, winches, halyards, sails, and 2 new engines. It also made its debut in Traverse City. On board you will also find 2 "heads." (That's bathrooms for you land lubbers!) The Nauti-Cat now sails West Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City Michigan 4 times a day, 7 days a week.

-Kids Cruise $15

-Noon Cruise $30

-Happy Hour $35

-Champagne Sunset Cruise $40

The Nauti-Cat meets or surpasses United States Coast Guard qualifications for safety equipment, stability, construction, and electronics. The USCG license captain and experience crew will make sure you are always safe. The Nauti-Cat staff are:

  • Great sail but not the best staff. It was basically a floating bar and not a tour. Not the most family friendly.
  • Had my first outing last night with these guys - what a great trip! My girlfriend and I really enjoyed it. Capt. Shane was fun to chat with. The scenery was superb and the whole experience totally relaxing. Highly recommended!
