Reid Park Zoo, Tucson

4.4
#5 of 13 in Zoos & Aquariums in Arizona
Zoo · Hidden Gem · Zoo / Aquarium
Observe animals big and small from various corners of the world at Reid Park Zoo. At just under 10 hectares (24 acres), the zoo doesn't cover a lot of ground, but it makes up for this with the diverse animal life it presents. Tour the four zones here: the adaptation zone with its grizzly bear and giant tortoise, the South America zone with a resident jaguar, the Asian zone with its tiger, and the African animals zone with its lion and giraffe. The zoo caters to children by offering rides on its miniature train and a play zone with water-spraying structures. For a deeper educational experience, check the schedule for zookeeper chats and training demonstrations. • One of the nicest kept smaller zoos I've ever visited. Nice variety of exhibits where everything was clean, attractive and had activities for the animals.  more »

  • BEST ZOO I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!! Amazing animal variety and welfare, plenty of stations to inform you about the animals, nice friendly staff, and sufficient bathrooms! The animals have good sized enclosures, adequate food and hydration, and sometimes a neat little interaction to get closer to the animals. For example, the prairie dogs have little pop up bubbles to let you get in their exhibit. One complaint, I do not think there is enough shade for the guests, it gets hot, like, really hot. Otherwise the best zoo I have ever had the pleasure of visiting!
  • Small and easy to get through in a few hours. Went with my child's school and it was perfect for the field trip. They had a special class that they gave to the kids about adaptations. Even brang out real life examples that the kids were super excited about. It was fun for everyone and informational. We had lunch at the park next to it and then the kids played for a bit til we had to go. I think it is perfect for little ones and schools.
