#1 of 6 in Shopping in Tucumcari
The Tee Pee Curios is one of the only remaining curio shops in New Mexico. Starting out as a gas and grocery store in the 1940's when Route 66 was only two lanes, they lost their gas pumps with the widening of the road. When I-40 bypassed Route 66, then marked the ending of an era and many towns along the route suffered. We are honored and pleased to be open and look forward to meeting you. The Tee Pee Curios has all of your souvenir needs from Route 66 items, New Mexico, pottery, t-shirts, jewelery, postcards and more. Our neon will be on at night for you to enjoy and we welcome photographers. We also welcome locals, tourists, motorcycle groups and bus tours. Long live Route 66!

  • Tee Pee Curios is a historic Route 66 place. Very interesting place and great gift store. The outside building has cool murals and classic Route 66 look.  more »
  • It was an old gas station that ended up becoming a souvenir shop, adding in the entrance the shape of an Indian tipi. It is worth it if you want to buy some souvenir and at least, see the curious façade, your old cars on the outside especially the one that has a cow skeleton and of course its magnificent neon sign.

  • Definitely worth a few minutes off the highway. Very retro and nostalgic. Found some items I hadn't seen in other souvenir shops. Owner was very friendly and had the cutest little doggies.
  • Cozy Cone Motel anyone?! This is must see on Historic Route 66. You can stock up on t-shirts, post-cards, hats, and most importantly beautiful Native America jewelry. As advertised best prices around. Spent a few minutes talking with the gentleman working the counter and he shared stories of when Route 66 was the place to be. He said the streets were so busy you couldn’t cross on foot easily & there was so much activity both day & night in the town. He also shared that the restored Route 66 motels along the strip are booked in the summer months. This well preserved town is a must see!! You won’t be disappointed if your into this type of thing.
