For decades, East Texas schoolchildren were introduced to science and space at Tyler Junior College’s Hudnall Planetarium. When the lights dimmed, all eyes turned skyward and imaginations were sparked as the mysteries of the universe unfolded.Center for Earth & Space Science Education is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.
The new Center for Earth & Space Science Education at TJC brings this life-changing experience to a new generation of East Texans. State-of-the-art facilities and expanded programming make the new center a premier field trip destination for surrounding schools and an educational attraction for TJC and the community at large.
In addition to a hands-on exhibit area, instructional/workshop space and a series of outdoor educational plazas, the Center features a domed theater equipped with Digistar 5, the latest in digital projection technology. TJC is one of only two facilities in Texas to utilize this new system – and one of only 50 worldwide. Similar to IMAX, the Digistar 5 offers giant-screen capabilities which can showcase astronomy and other science-based programming, as well as geography and history programming.
Center for Earth & Space Science Education reviews
We love observatories and planetariums. We try and go wherever we visit. This facility is on the Tyler Junior College campus. Great planetarium and very knowledgeable PnD staff that run the movies... more »

This place is awesome! For the ones that have said it’s geared towards kids.. they offer several different types of shows so if one was more for children I’d look at the others offered and they change/add new presentations, so keep checking back with the office. It’s the only one in this area and was one of the 1st TX! It’s just one of the wonderful things TYLER has and been operating for YEARS! So go out and support TJC and our community by going to one of the shows! You will love it!
My four-year-old kept wanting to know how they make everything turn. I told her we were on a spaceship. She wanted to go outside so I explained there's no air in space or on Mars and she would die. She had a great time wondering how it all worked. The kids film on Saturday with short about 25 minutes it's a 30-minute drive each way for us to go. They had other activities during the day but were spaced out by several hours. I think they could do a better job of scheduling events in order to make a day of it. I would also like to see two shows play together so it's more of an hour-long event. Otherwise it was great and we enjoyed ourselves.
