  • Excellent place to take little ones hiking for the first time. There are many trails that are a perfect length for beginners or ones for seasoned hikers. The bison trail was super fun for our little ones because you can see the bison up close. There's a neat little visitor center with some history of the area and artifacts. There are picnic tables for lunch and a playground that the kids loved playing on. Excellent park and so close to the city! Definitely looking into camping there soon!
  • Excellent State Park tucked back off the main roads of Boone County. I love coming here for a long hike throughout the numerous trails. There's an amazing lake you can walk around or a bison reserve that you can stop and admire the massive beasts at. Oh, and if you're looking to stay a while there is a camp ground with rv parking and water hookups. Definitely recommend.
