Lovely (heavily trafficked) trail. No public restrooms. Trail users are not welcome at the Piney River Ranch but easily skirt it on the trail from the parking lot before entering the private property.
It's worth the drive. I drove a small car with less than a foot of ground clearance and I made it there with my oil pan and suspension intact. Go slow until you get there, and when you start to wonder if it's going to be worth it, remember my assurance- YES IT IS. Piney Lake IS the REAL Colorado. Absolute beauty, and it stays at 70 degrees all summer, when it's in the 80s in Vail Valley and the 90s in the Front Range. So get out there and do the gorgeous (and only moderately strenuous) 3 hour round-trip hike to Piney Falls. Do it now though, the place closes for the year at the end of September!
