Firelight Vineyards, Valley View

#142 of 169 in Wineries in Texas
Must see · Winery / Vineyard · Hidden Gem · Food & Drink
We have been making wine as a hobby for over 5 years with a dream of opening a winery and vineyard business of our own. Meredith began making this dream a reality by starting in the Viticulture & Enology program at Grayson College about 2 years ago and is planning to graduate with a degree and two certifications in winemaking and grape growing in the fall of 2013. Our hope is to secure licensing and begin the process of opening our winery over the next year.

Our first vines were planted in March 2012 and are budding beautifully in their second season. They will produce their first usable fruit in the summer of 2014. These vines are called Lenoir, which are well known for making an excellent “Port” style wine. Our next plantings will begin with Merlot, Tempranillo, and Viognier. In the future we hope to plant many other Vitis Vinifera varieties and a few up-and-coming French American Hybrids.

  • I have been here 2 times in 2 months. One time with my sister and today with my husband. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food is good, but not fufu. The Italian nachos were excellent. We had cheese a meat tray last time. We are into sweet wines. There are 3 sweet wines and 2 semi sweet. The rest are more bitter wines, although that is what most people like.
  • Tried 8 wines for $10 then got a discount on a bottle of wine and $2 off when I bought a glass. The sangria was my favorite but they were out so I'll have to stop by again. Normally I like sweet wine but I left with a semi (Rose) and two dry bottles.
