  Drove to the end of the road and did some photography. Our overseas guests loved it. Not a lot to see, but plenty of birdlife and open spaces. Highly recommend for a day trip.  more »

  This island (Chandeleur) actually represents the outer boundary of the old Mississippi River Delta from any earlier Age. Our group did a lot of seining here and came up with an abundance of species.....  more »

  The chandeleur Islands are a north-south oriented chain of low-lying islands located approximately 120km east of New Orleans, Louisiana. Before Katrina, the average elevation above sea level, onm the chandeleur Islands was 13 feet (4m). That dropped to 5 feet (1.5m) after the storm. 85% of the surface area was lost.
