Venice Beach, Venice

#2 of 17 in Outdoors in Venice
Beach · Nature / Park
At Venice Beach--reputedly the shark-tooth capital of the world--take time to swim, go scuba diving, relax on the broad expanse of sand, and beachcomb for fossilized shark's teeth that make the beach famous. From the shore or the boardwalk, watch for bottlenose dolphins frolicking in the water. If you are a diver, paddle out 400 m (0.25 mi) to explore the coral reef. Stroll along the Venice pier, where you can fish, take in the view, or grab a hot dog from the bait shop. For a more substantial meal, head to Sharky's on the pier for shrimp and chips or lobster-stuffed flounder. • Easy parking. Nice pier, local spot vibe with restaurant near by. We found this beach trying to escape red tide…. The water was clear blue and choppy waves.  more »
  • Parking was tough but once parked the beach is a great place to look for shells and shark teeth. Bring you sifting device. Fun  more »
