  • Follow the painted black dinosaur tracks to get to the end of the trail - that is fun for kids ... and maybe us adults if we confess! Varied terraine but mostly rocky. It takes a bit to adjust to...

  • Beautiful tinny reservoir. Warm water in August-September when we went. Very tiny. Great for paddle boarding, cliff jumping, etc. but I wouldn't recommend draging a boat there. Its tinny and very few to no beaches. you can access it from the Marina or a few other dirt roads, but with a long walk to the beach. The campsite hosts and DNR people there are super wonderful, happy, amazing people. I don't like people. But I really liked everyone I meet and talked too. We don't usually do parking lot camping. But it was still a lot of fun. If you could somehow camp on near the lake I would give it 5 stars. But lake access is not great. Lack of beaches further complicated that. However it's also part of what made it so amazingly beautiful
  • Great little reservoir to spend the day on. I’d recommend camping at nearby Steinaker state park though. We decided to book our trip that way based on what the campground looks like online and am sure glad we did. The camping here at Red Fleet is akin to sleeping in a Walmart parking lot. Rows of paved stalls packed together like sardines. Not sure what the thought process was there. The lake on the other hand was amazing. We spent two days here exploring. The first day we hiked in from the backside to the dinosaur tracks. Wear your swimsuit if you do. There’s a great spot to jump in the water at the end of the hike. The second day we brought our paddle boards back and launched them from the boat launch. We spent the day exploring the lake. The water even though very low was still cool and clear. As others have said it’s kind of like a mini lake Powell. We will be back.
