See one of the biggest outdoor collections of water lilies in the United States at McKee Botanical Garden, a subtropical garden filled with local and exotic plant species that was founded in 1929. The garden was a popular attraction after it opened in 1932, but was closed for about 25 years until 2001, when it was refurbished. Now you'll find vast groups of water lilies, bromeliads, pineapple plants, plumbago, tall palm trees, and other fragrant vegetation. Explore the hall of the giants, a Polynesian-styled ceremonial palace built by one of the garden's founders, Waldo E. Sexton, out of cypress and pine. The palace contains an 11 m (35 foot) table made from a single piece of mahogany. Beautiful garden with a dense canopy and lots of opportunities for capturing intimate shots. A smaller size property compared to some, made for a nice leisurely walk while still seeing everything. A little off the beaten path but well worth the drive. Great kids area with a unique playground.

What an amazing peaceful place. The grounds are spectacular and clean. With all the different trails you are always finding something different. Got kids? There is an area just for them...and it's awesome! FUN!
