Woodford Reserve Distillery, Versailles

#1 of 16 in Things to do in Versailles
Woodford Reserve is a brand of premium small batch Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced in Woodford County, Kentucky by the Brown-Forman Corporation. It is made from a mixture of pot still spirits produced at the company's Woodford Reserve Distillery there, and column still spirits from the Brown Forman Distillery in Shively, Kentucky. Each 45.2% alcohol by volume (90.4 US Proof) bottle bears a unique batch and bottle number.
The Woodford Reserve Distillery, formerly known as the Old Oscar Pepper Distillery and later the Labrot & Graham Distillery, is approximately eight miles from the town of Versailles in north-central Kentucky, off U.S. Route 60 between Interstate 64 and Versailles.
Distilling on the site began in 1780, with today's distillery building erected in 1838. Although the site has not been continuously operational as a distillery since, the structure stands as the oldest of the nine bourbon distilleries in operation in Kentucky as of 2010. In 1995 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and in 2000 was designated a National Historic Landmark.

  • Had a good tour and tasting at Woodford, Terry (doc Brown) our tour guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Nice tour very good to see the wooden fermenting containers.  more »
  • Really nice tour and grounds. The bourbon isn’t one of my favorites but is still excellent and I did buy some after the tour/tasting. Nice place but in my opinion a bit overpriced.  more »

  • Beautiful historic distillery! They have some great bourbons being made in a beautiful setting. The limestone buildings are a treat to visit. The tour is about 30 minutes and gives you a nice overview of how they make their products. The visitors center is beautiful and has a lot to offer. A must see!
  • What an amazing distillery! The land, tasting room/visitor center, and area were beautiful! You walk in to the visitor center to find a beautiful and welcoming ambiance. Big store, a bar, and the ability to do a tasting. We tasted 3 different bourbons. There were chairs and sofas near a fireplace, so nice! We did not get an opportunity to do a tour. Great experience!
