Grouseland, the William Henry Harrison Mansion and Museum, is a National Historic Landmark important for its Federal-style architecture and role in American history. The two-story, red brick home was built between 1802 and 1804 in Vincennes, Indiana, for William Henry Harrison (1773–1841) during his tenure from 1801 to 1812 as the first governor of the Indiana Territory. The residence was completed in 1804 and Harrison reportedly named it Grouseland due to the abundance of grouse in the area.Ask Inspirock to suggest an itinerary and make planning a trip to Vincennes fast, fun, and easy.

I love that this home was saved from demolition! It is a beautiful restoration with tons of history! Lots of historical markers scattered across the grounds.I don't remember the name of the lady that gave us the tour, but she was very informative and friendly. The history of this place is amazing. The stories of Harrison and Tecumseh are amazing! A precursor to the Battle Of Tippecanoe and The War Of 1812. If you love Indiana history or just a history buff in general, I highly recommend a visit to Grouseland. You will not be disappointed.
Vincennes is lucky to have this historical gem so close to home. No wonder people from all over the country visit! It's a must-see if you're passing through, visiting the area, or living in town!
