Trip Planner: USA / Virginia / Virginia Beach / Military Aviation Museum
Home to one of the largest collections of warbirds, Military Aviation Museum displays planes from all over the world, including some of the first-ever war planes. Many of them surround a U.S. Air Force hangar that's been converted into the attraction's main museum. Almost every plane has been restored for flying by the Fighter Factory and the Aviation Institute of Maintenance. Check the website for a schedule of air shows, which include planes from World War I and World War II. A reference library and exhibit of artifacts tell the stories of the planes on display outside. Plan your Military Aviation Museum visit and explore what else you can see and do in Virginia Beach using our Virginia Beach holiday planner.

We were amazed at how much there was to see, the quality of the exhibits, and the knowledge of the docents.

Excellent experience! Docents are very knowledgeable, entertaining even! Nice that they point out the genuine restored aircraft and the replicas. Display aircraft are easy to photograph and the main hangars are open to explore. The tour of the British control tower and the German hangar were very good. I would recommend anyone visiting the Hampton Roads area make it a point to visit.
The museum is very well run and the tour guides are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Our guide, Warren, an Army veteran, was absolutely wonderful. You could tell how much he loved his job. Many of the planes are still flyable. Overall, it was extremely informative and well worth the cost of admission. If you do go, make sure to leave time to do the guided tour to the other areas (it's free with admission).
