Olcott Park is a city park in Virginia, Minnesota, United States.
Olcott Park was named after W. J. Olcott, an officer of the Great Northern Mining Company. In 1905 the company first leased the land to the city for $1 a year if the city would pay taxes on it. The city purchased the land in 1939 for $9,015.
The Olcott Park in Virginia, Minnesota is a 40acre amount of land on the north side of town. It is bordered by 9th St. N and Essentia Health/Virginia Regional Medical Center on the north and the Calvary Cemetery on the west. On the east it is bordered by N 9th Ave W, and a city museum (Heritage Museum). On the south, the park is bordered by Parkview Learning Center and some little-league baseball fields.
Along with a large playground area, the park also boasts a bandstand in its center where Virginia City Band performances take place in the summer. In the northern region of the park, a fountain still stands today that was built during the Great Depression. Also, a structure in the southern edge of the park still stands that held monkeys and bear cubs prior to World War II. The park also holds the Olcott Park Greenhouse, one of the town's major attractions.

  • My little nieces and nephews said the parks in California are not as good as this. Lots for them to do while we put together a picnic lunch. The fountain is outstanding!  more »

  • My friend took her wedding photos here and it was lovely! The fountain even had romantic music playing on speakers. It seems they cleaned it up recently and it's much nicer and more family friendly now.
  • It's a neat park because it has something you don't see often in a park a BRAND NEW FOUNTAIN! It's a really spread out area with plenty of toys for kids to play on and it's a "clean" park. I really joy brining my niece and nephew there and we always have a good time, I also get to watch my nephew's baseball games there because there is a baseball field right behind the learning center, plus it also has a beautiful flowers everywhere and a ABSOLUTELY AMAZING GREENHOUSE... It's definitely my favorite park in this area.
