  • Beautiful black sand beach! Looks like an exclusive spot because of the gate, but is open to the general public. Bathrooms, outdoor showers and foot wash. Less rocky bottom than other surrounding areas. Can have super strong rip currents though, so not necessarily a good swim spot for kids.
  • This beach is better in person. It feels quiet and secluded; the sand is soft on your feet; the water is crystal clear; and it’s one of the best spots I’ve ever snorkeled. There were sooo many fish within 20-50 feet of shore! My favorite part was that the water was calm (no waves) and it was easy to get into. Most beaches in Hawaii have sharp reef that makes it difficult to walk into the water without cutting your feet. This spot had a good stretch of sandy bottom and smooth stones before it drops off into reef as you go deeper. So it was perfect for swimming and easy snorkeling.
